Brewmaster Our brewmaster, Ron Page, has been manning the kettle at City Steam since our opening on November 27, 1997.  In that time, he has brewed over 80 different styles of ales, lagers and porters, for a combined total of well over 4 million pints!

City Steam is Ron’s third brewing job in Connecticut, starting back in 1989 at the New England Brewing Co. in Norwalk.   After that, he enjoyed a brief 2 year stint as brewmaster at the now defunct Elm City Brewing Co. in New Haven, and has also worked as a designer/consultant for a brewery equipment manufacturing  firm.  In addition to his duties as the one and only brewer at City Steam, he is also responsible for collecting and framing most of the beer posters you see hanging on the walls, as well as personally building all of the bars and beer systems.

A few years ago, Ron started a small “micro-bakery” in the beer cellar.  Using malted barley from the brewhouse, all the rolls and artisinal breads used at City Steam are produced at City Steam.  When not brewing, baking, or cabinetmaking,  Ron enjoys playing the jazz trombone (badly) or just spending lazy days on the nearby Connecticut river, rowing, fishing, or drinking growlers of his own beer.
